Precautions for purchasing solid wood flooring - pay attention to notches and thickness when purchasing flooring
Jul 20, 2022| These two points are also crucial. As we all know, the standard thickness of the floor should be 18mm, but there are many 17.5mm floors in the market. However, I am not saying that a difference of 0.5mm in floor effect will be affected. The key is that 17.5mm floors are mostly made of boards with insufficient thickness or modified along bending plates, while many along bending plates are not well dried or stress problems have not been solved. Such floors are dangerous, and their problems will appear after installation, manifested as arching, Corrugating and other materials, and the length of the slot is another method of cutting corners for manufacturers. As the ground area is calculated based on the width and length of the board, the shorter the slot, the wider the board. This invisibly reduces costs, and in doing so, it causes harm to consumers. If the floor slot is short, it is easy to make noise, and the floor will make a creaking sound when stepped on. One way to avoid the two deceptive tactics mentioned above is to first use your eyes to check if the floor texture is clear and if there are normal color differences. Then, ask the manufacturer to indicate on the purchase order whether it is a color board (coloring board). When returning for installation, cut open the floor, apply water on the side, and check if the base color of the board is consistent. If the difference is large, it is a color board. Regarding the groove, the national standard is 3.5mm-4mm, which can be measured, If you don't need to measure, you can put two boards together, hold one and let the other hang at a 45 degree angle to see if the other will fall off. If it falls off, it is likely that the slot length is insufficient. In addition, be careful for floors with tight slots during splicing, as some manufacturers intentionally make the slot very tight to prevent the board from falling off, and there is a certain gap in the normal slot.
